Get your licence key again
Enter the email address you bought with. If it has a licence, we email the key to it. You can ask once an hour.
You can also search your email for "Your Chairtax licence key". A Mac App Store copy of Chairtax needs no key.
Questions
How do I enter my licence key?
Copy the key. If Chairtax's setup is open, paste it into the licence key field on the last screen and click Apply. Otherwise click the chair in the menu bar, choose Enter licence key…, paste the key and click Apply.
Does one licence cover more than one Mac?
Yes. Use it on every Mac you own. Enter the same key on each.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac with macOS 14 or later and a camera, built in or connected. For the camera movements, stand back far enough that the camera sees your head and hips.
Does the camera picture go anywhere?
No. Frames are processed on your Mac by Apple's Vision framework and then discarded. No frame is stored, uploaded or shown to anyone, and the app makes no network connections. The break screen shows a stick figure by default; your camera picture appears there only if you turn it on. The privacy policy has the details.
What happens if a break comes up during a video call?
Breaks wait while another app is using the camera or microphone. Before each break Chairtax checks, and if one is in use, the break waits five minutes and checks again.
What if I am away from my desk?
If there has been no keyboard or mouse input for five minutes when a break is due, Chairtax reschedules it.
Can I get my screen back in an emergency?
Yes, at every rank. Press Emergency override on the break screen, and the screen comes back after 60 seconds. If you finish the reps first, it comes back then. Every break ends on its own after 15 minutes.
The camera cannot see me. What happens?
After 30 seconds without seeing you, the break ends and is rescheduled. For a better count, add light in front of you, step back until your head and hips are in the picture, or tilt the screen back. Settings has Reset calibration to find your spot again.
If the camera cannot work where you sit, switch to the typed phrase. It needs no camera, and it does not count toward the money-back challenge.
How do I pause breaks?
Click the chair in the menu bar and choose Pause breaks: for 1, 2 or 4 hours, until morning, or indefinitely. Resume breaks brings them back.
How do I change the movement, the target or the rank?
Open Settings from the menu bar. Changing the movement or the rank asks for your signature again.
How does the money-back challenge work?
It comes with every licence bought on chairtax.app. Do 100 camera-counted reps on 16 of the first 30 days after you first enter your key. Then choose Show challenge code… in the menu bar or Settings, and email the code from each Mac you used, with your Paddle order number, to support@chairtax.app within 14 days after your 30 days end. We refund the $29 through Paddle. The terms and steps are here.
I bought on the Mac App Store. Does the challenge apply?
No. Only purchases from chairtax.app qualify. For a refund of a Mac App Store purchase, ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I stop Chairtax, or remove it?
Choose Quit Chairtax from the menu bar. To stop it starting with your Mac, turn off Start at login. To remove it, quit it, delete Chairtax from Applications, and delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Chairtax.
