Terms of sale and use

These terms cover buying Chairtax on chairtax.app and using the Chairtax app. Chairtax is made and sold by [SELLER LEGAL NAME] ("we", "us"). By buying or using Chairtax you agree to them.

1. The product

Chairtax is an app for macOS 14 or later. At an interval you set, it covers your screen and gives it back when the camera, on your Mac, has counted the reps you chose. You choose the movement, the reps per break, the interval, your workday and a rank (Cub, Brown bear or Grizzly) that sets how a break can be skipped or dismissed.

2. Buying on chairtax.app

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders. Paddle's buyer terms apply to the payment itself.

• Price. $29 (US dollars), paid once. Sales tax or VAT is added at checkout where it applies. There is no subscription and no renewal.
• What you get. A download of Chairtax and a licence key. The key is shown after checkout and emailed to the address you gave at checkout. The key does not expire.
• Without a key. Setup runs without a key. Breaks start once a valid key is entered.

3. Buying on the Mac App Store

If you get Chairtax from the Mac App Store, Apple sells it to you, Apple's Media Services terms and the Licensed Application End User License Agreement apply to that purchase, and refunds are handled by Apple. The money-back challenge does not apply to Mac App Store purchases.

4. Your licence

• A licence is for one person. You may use Chairtax on every Mac you own.
• Keep your key to yourself. Do not share, publish or sell it. We may refuse to resend a key that has been published.
• Chairtax stays ours. You may not copy it for others, or change or get around its licence check.

5. Refunds

Every licence bought on chairtax.app comes with the money-back challenge: 100 camera-counted reps on 16 of your first 30 days refunds the $29, claimed within 14 days after the 30 days end. Its terms are on that page and form part of these terms. Refunds outside the challenge follow Paddle's refund policy and the rights consumer law gives you where you live, which these terms do not reduce. To ask for any other refund, write to support@chairtax.app.

6. Exercise and your health

• Chairtax asks you to move. It is not a medical device and gives no medical advice.
• If you have a health condition, an injury or are pregnant, ask a doctor which movements suit you before you start.
• If a movement hurts, stop. Choose a gentler movement or fewer reps in Settings, or use the typed phrase, which needs no movement.
• Make sure the space around you is clear before each break.
• The health information on this website is general information from published studies. What a break does for you depends on you.

7. How breaks take your screen

At the Brown bear and Grizzly ranks a break covers your whole screen until you do the reps or the break ends. Every rank has an emergency override that gives the screen back after 60 seconds, and every break ends on its own after 15 minutes, or after 30 seconds in which the camera cannot see you. Pause breaks, or quit Chairtax, whenever you need your screen without interruption. Do not use Chairtax on a Mac where losing the screen for a few minutes would put anyone at risk.

8. Updates

We may release new versions of Chairtax. We do not promise any particular update or feature. Your licence key keeps working with the version you have.

9. Warranty and liability

Chairtax is provided as it is. Rep counting depends on your camera, your light and your position, and it can miss or miscount reps. As far as the law allows, we give no warranty beyond what these terms say, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Chairtax. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we update this page and the date at the top. The terms in force when you bought apply to that purchase.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW]. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the law where you live.
